Seems like mother nature has taken a liking to Katy Perry’s song. As a result of this summer/winter oh no wait for it … summer again and then winter weather a lot of people have fallen ill. While I detest sick people coughing and sneezing over me, I must say that this weather reminds me of a really good skin home remedy. During the colder days most people like to take hot showers to relax and warm up, but unfortunately there is a downside to everything. It is a known fact that hot showers are bad for your skin; during a hot shower the hot water attacks the keratin on your epidermis (the outermost layer of skin) as well as the thin film of oil that is secreted to help lock in moisture (how stuff works, 2012). Wait but don’t weep yet, a simple fix to this solution actually results in skin improvement. Alternating between hot and cold water in the shower can help blood vessels expand and constrict resulting in better circulation, tones and improves the appearance of skin. Remember to apply lotion after your shower whether it’s hot or it’s cold as it helps lock in the moisture. Cold water also results in hair cuticles laying flat, resulting in shinier hair (bet you didn’t know that!), but according to cold-showers.com the benefits do not end there, read the article for more health benefits ( http://www.cold-showers.com/a-doctors-view-on-cold-showers/)

*Disclaimer: the technique has worked really well for me, while the facts are researched, the blog is still my own opinion*

Till next time …
